Interview with Penelope Trunk

This morning I had a great conversation/interview with Penelope Trunk. You guys remember Penelope, right? She's the author of that article that sparked a fuming tirade of a blog post from me that was featured on Universal Hub, which incidentally also had its share of commentary regarding the issue.

After the dust had settled, Husband 2.0 employed me to consider the fact that perhaps there was more to what she was saying than just hurry up and have babies. So I did some digging in the dirt on Penelope and what I found was that she and I share a number of similar views on things related to women and careers, which made me even more curious to find out why it was she seems to be telling women in their 20s to ignore everything they've been told regarding pursuing a career and to pursue a husband instead.

Taking a chance, I asked Kate Hutchinson, who happened to comment on the blog (and who also happens to work with Penelope at the Brazen Careerist), if she thought Penelope would like a chance to defend her position. As luck would have it, she did.

We had a great conversation, and you'll be able to hear the interview on the podcast sometime this week. Nigel (the producer of my podcast) will be posting the feed as the Getting Single Extra (GSex, as we've been calling it) so those of you who are already subscribers of the podcast you'll be getting that show along with Episode 6, but (if I understood him correctly!) it will also have its own unique feed, so those of you who aren't interested in the whole "blog as podcast" thing, will still be able to check out this feature.
